Silver Spoon Thai Kitchen

Yesterday my friend David and I enjoyed lunch at Silver Spoon Thai Kitchen, located in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco. The mid-sized space features sponge-painted walls in an appealing mango/gold color; sturdy, handsome wood chairs; white tablecloths; modern, fun hanging lights; and a fresh iris bloom in a vase on each table. The service was a bit slow, but the food was worth the wait! We started with a delicate, delicious soup made with coconut milk, cabbage, carrots and lemon juice. My main plate featured moderately spicy Thai chicken with basil, served with white rice in the shape of a star. David enjoyed a pumpkin curry dish along with chicken satay. The plates were carefully arranged and very elegant. It appeared that most of the restaurant's lunchtime business is take-out, and those waiting for their orders relaxed on comfy, brightly colored armchairs near the front of the restaurant. The prices were very reasonable ($6.95 for soup, entree and white rice). I highly recommend Silver Spoon for your next Thai meal, but please note that while they are open seven days a week at dinnertime, they only serve lunch on weekdays.
